why has the watchtower failed spectacularly to evangelize to the muslims?
considering the recent influx of muslim people in european countries you would think that some attempt from the religion that touts the are preaching the good news of the kingdom in all the inhabited earth would have been made.instead the only meaningful attempt dates back to 1953 ,almost 70 years ago!!!!

An elder I used to know spoke FARSI as did his wife. They tried to set up an interest group at the KH and would target Iranians in the local cafes. There seemed to be a lot of interest initially but the brother gave up and returned to his home congregation. He realised that Muslims were not in the least bit interested but liked the conversations which helped them with their English.

William Malenfant gave a talk on the DC I watched last weekend, Sunday morning symposium.
I thought Mark Numair was a future GB member in waiting but in a recent talk he said he was really looking forward to being on earth during the 1000 years so that probably blows my theory.
i wonder if Ralph Walls or William Turner are being groomed for replacing Sam Heard. We certainly see a lot them both of recent.

i decided to do this posting because of some comments in the post about pensions.
in the mid to late 1980's there was a flood and the local kingom hall was damaged and many of the friends homes were damaged...groups came in to help repair.
my then mother-in-law literally lost everything-she had no home to repair...she had been renting a small trailer and it washed away.
A missionary couple I know have spent the last 50 plus years in Africa. They once told me that if you see a JW family that are starving you never give them money. You can buy them some food but that's all. They told me that if you give give them money the father will use it to buy the best wrist watch he can get his hands on and the family will still be starving.

how far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.
Until 1942 it was stated that 606 BCE was the date for the destruction of Jerusalem. Then someone realised adding 2520 years to 606 did not give 1914 (no zero year) and as they already had the answer they wanted from CTR's pyramidology they changed to 607 BCE.
This new date appeared in "The truth shall make you free" and further in "The kingdom is at hand" the following year.
All the old WT publications prior to this era use 606 BCE and of course 536 BCE for the return, this too had to be changed.

Her dad got a double first at Cambridge (?) then an MA. They left England in 1953 for Australia where he continued his academic work and eventually became a professor.
He also had a distinguished RAF career during the war, working in code breaking and intelligence along with interrogating captured German pilots and officers.
It's a wonder O N-J didn't follow the family academic line.

You need to be English, of a certain age and have a peculiar taste in comedy to fully appreciate that of course.

i was a bethelite in london for many years then got reassigned to the field and then went on brd from the start of chelmsford right upto covid.. during my years at the branch i was sometimes asked to be on a team who went to homes donated to the branch when some older one died.. this happenes an awful lot, everything is left to the branch in the will.
the unbelieving family is furious they didn’t get left anything and sometimes they tried to get their elderly relatives possessions and there was a legal battle .
but in the end a team of us would go and empty the property and another team would clean it up and put it on the market to sell it for the worldwide work.. all the possessions were sorted into trash or possibly valuable .
I knew of a widowed sister who left her house to the congregation as she had no children or relatives. The congregation had lots of pioneers and her idea was that it could be used as a "pioneer house" where they could live and just pay a nominal amount to cover outgoings and maintenance.
Needless to say the WT Society stopped that idea in its tracks and ordered the congregation to sell the house and forward the money to Bethel. Of course they did as instructed but there was a lot of bad feeling among the pioneers.

we got the inevitable letter today.. meet, associate and "encourage" in person unless sick or infirm.
also dress up for zoom if you must use it.
locally over half are on zoom, 3/4 no picture.

So true. Our monthly donations to the WT are a fraction of pre-Covid days. There are a lot of older ones who are not into internet banking so other than handing an elder a donation when on his rounds they don't drop money into the box every meeting as they did.

they had her buried on his golf course.
do you think this is tacky or a savvy business move since it'll now get them some tax breaks as a cemetery?.
